One chart for everyone

Most women wear 4–8, most men wear 8–14 — but hands don't read labels. Measure yours.

US ring sizes run on a single scale for everyone, measured by the inside diameter of the band. We craft in half sizes from US 3 to 15; quarter sizes are available on request.

Three Ways to Measure

Pick the one that fits your evening

Method A · Easiest
Use a ring you own

Lay a ring that fits on the printed circles and find the one that just touches the inside edge.

Method B · Accurate at home
Paper sizer

Cut out the sizer, wrap it around the base of your finger, and pull until snug.

Method C · Most precise
Free sizer by mail

We'll send a reusable plastic sizer — the closest thing to trying the ring itself.

About string: a string can stretch or twist, so we recommend it only as a last resort — and always confirm with Method A or B.

When to Measure
01Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest.
02Measure 2–3 times on different days. Take the size that repeats.
03Cold hands run small. Warm up first.
04Choosing a band 6 mm or wider? Wider bands fit tighter — go up half a size.
Fit Questions
My knuckle is larger than the base of my finger. Which do I trust?
Measure both, then choose a size between the two — large enough to pass the knuckle, small enough not to spin at the base.
Can I find my partner's size without them knowing?
Yes — Method A needs only a ring they already wear on the intended finger.
What if the ring arrives and doesn't fit?
Every Bow Tie ring includes one complimentary resize, with insured FedEx both ways.

The #1 Mix-Up

"1 ctw" is a pair — not per ear

CTW means carat total weight for both earrings together. A 1 ctw pair = 0.50 ct per ear (about 5 mm each). When you compare prices anywhere, check which number is being quoted.

03No necklace at hand? Loop a ribbon around your neck, mark it, then measure it flat.

How to Measure

Cut, wrap, read

01Cut out the strip from the printed sheet along the dashed line.
02Wrap it around your wrist, just below the wrist bone. Zero at the start.
03Read the number where the strip meets zero. That is your wrist size.
04Add about 3/4 inch of comfort room — that's your bracelet size.
Quick Answer

Carat is weight, not size

A 1 ct round is about 6.5 mm across, while a 1 ct marquise is about 10 mm long.

Shape changes the look, not the weight. Elongated shapes — oval, marquise, pear — face up larger than a round of the same carat.

True to Scale

Lay the sheet on your hand

Shape × carat matrix preview

Round 1 ct ≈ 6.5 mm · Oval 1 ct ≈ 7.5 × 5.5 mm · Marquise 1 ct ≈ 10.0 × 5.0 mm.
